What does it involve?
During your 12 weeks at the institute you will receive world-class personalised training from top ski or snowboard instructors preparing you for experience in a variety of exciting and challenging disciplines. Push your limits on powder, bumps and steeps, get your adrenaline pumping with carving and alpine racing or discover how to master the wilderness with first aid and avalanche survival skills. Field practise is combined with workshops and theory sessions in order to help you fully develop your technique, leadership abilities and work toward certification in your chosen discipline.
Where is it?
Situated in the Comox Valley on Canada’s Vancouver Island, Section8 Institute enjoys one of the world’s most spectacular positions on Mt. Washington which rises more than 2000 metres from the Pacific Ocean. The resort itself offers breathtaking alpine and coastal scenery, yet is still relatively undiscovered, giving you free reign of the slopes!
What else do we provide?
As well as accommodation in our cosy chalets and hearty evening meals after a hard day’s skiing or snowboarding we also give you plenty of time to explore your beautiful surroundings. Why not enjoy a road trip to the coast for whale watching or surf lessons, or for extreme adrenaline junkies we can organise bungee jumping, snow tubing, caving and many more hair-raising activities!
What Certifications will I get?
As well as going away with some great memories and plenty of new mates, on completion of the course you will receive the following certifications: CSIA or CASI – Levels 1 and 2. Avalanche safety training – 1 and 2. Wilderness First Aid – 40 hours. CSIA or CASI Terrain Park Modules. SLT Certificate of Completion.
