FAQ
Language
For programs advertised internationally, English is usually the only language required. Although for integration and to be polite we recommend learning at least some of the most basic Japanese words and phrases.
Culture shock
Some volunteers do experience a culture shock whilst they are in Japan. This is normal because Japan is a very different place and all you need to do is be patient and flexible and enjoyed the experience. Your coordinator will be there if you need any help in the projects and the children will appreciate your help and welcome you with open arms.
It is good to prepare yourself for a potential culture shock because adjusting yourself to a totally different culture can take some time to get used to. You will be emerged into a totally new culture, be exposed to new traditions and different food, so there will be a lot of experiences as soon as you arrive which is a great thing because the experience is why you come to Asia.
