Paid TEFL Jobs
You’ll usually be teaching English to students of all ages; sometimes you’ll have a class of 30 eager 12 year-olds and sometimes just 10 or so adults. It’s exciting! English is a commodity in Sri Lanka and as a teacher of spoken English you already have all the tools you need, provided you are a fluent speaker yourself. The people you’ll be teaching are from a variety of backgrounds and have varying levels of English knowledge. You’ll need to be flexible, adaptable and be ready for anything. But that sounds like you, right? Salaries vary depending on the employer.
Youth Teaching Projects
You might be teaching English to students or it could be people from the local community who are looking to try English for the first time, some who come from miles for your lessons. You’re a total celebrity. From secretaries to Buddhist monks, your classes will be as varied as the population of Sri Lanka itself.
Children’s Teaching Projects
Work in children’s development centres, primary schools and after school clubs to provide extra-curricular English lessons. Our main aim is to be role models, but not caregivers. Be prepared to get dirty and probably have stuff thrown at you.
Additional Jobs
There will be additional projects working with people with different specific needs. Also if you have sport coaching experience, mention on your. application as some companies are looking for swimming, football and cricket coaches.
