Guide to Interning in Mexico

Requirements
These programs are aimed at university students with the appropriate skills, experience and Spanish language from all sectors. For some placements you must be a student between the ages of 18 to 30 years old, studying or have experience in the related field or profession. Most interns are NOT paid, however a bonus could be negotiated at the discretion of the company. A monthly payment of up to ~US$100 is offered in form of supermarket vouchers.

Language
You will usually need to have intermediate-advanced Spanish language level to work with a local Mexican company. If you do not meet these standards, we recommend and can organize a language course prior to your internship placement. You could also book a course with Spanish language schools in Mexico.

Duration
The minimum duration for most programs is 1 month and maximum 12 months.

Housing
Most companies provide lodging in hotels or with a local homestay. Families are carefully screened and selected.

Mexican Currency
Mexican currency is known as the peso. The dollar symbol ($) is the same symbol that is used for U.S. currency.

Here’s what you need to know about the Mexican dollar:

Coins = 5, 10, 20 and 50 cents, $1, $2, $5, $10, $20, $50 and $100
Bills = $20, $50, $100, $200, $500 and $1,000
